31 Days of Play
As the summer winds down, you might be running out of things to do or want to get the most out of the summer with your children. LETHBRIDGE PLAYS is here to help with 31 Days of Play!
We invite you to join 31 Days of Play during the month of August. You can check out the full calendar for the month, and watch for our daily Facebook and Instagram post with the full details and instructions for each activity.
31 Days of Play features activities inspired by The Early Development Instruments (EDI). The EDI measures children’s ability to meet age-appropriate developmental expectations in five general domains:
Physical Health and Wellbeing,
Social Competence,
Emotional Maturity,
Language & Cognitive Development, and
Communication Skills & General Knowledge.
Children develop these skills through play and all are imperative for growth. The daily play activities help develop one or more of the EDI 5 domains. Follow our Facebook and Instagram social media posts for full details and instructions on each Play of the Day activity.
Each day of the week has a different theme.
Simple Sunday is a relaxed day where participants can choose what kind of play to do within the theme developing all five domains of the EDI.
Make Something Monday allows children to develop their cognitive and physical skills while making something and are able to play with it later.
Nature Nut Tuesday encourages kids to go outside to play while developing all five domains of the EDI.
Water Wednesday will help you cool off from this hot summer with a variety of water activities and develop all five domains of the EDI.
Thinking Thursday is all about cognitive, communication and emotional development.
Fantastic Friday includes activities encouraging play with others and developing communication, social and emotional skills.
·Super Saturday is for physical play. Do these activities solo or with others!
