What is Lethbridge Plays?
We are a group of local stakeholders brought together by the unifying belief in the importance of play, and the benefits play can have on our society. The City Council of Lethbridge unanimously adopted the Lethbridge Play Charter in the fall of 2018. Today organizations, local businesses, parents and community members are working together to make play a priority in Lethbridge.
We have worked together to develop a Lethbridge Play Charter, which is a document that explains why we believe play is important, and how we can work together to create a community that supports and encourages all kinds of play for every child and youth in Lethbridge. Play Charters are a world-wide movement. Several countries around the world, as well as provinces and cities in Canada, such as Calgary, have adopted Play Charters that influence City planning, policy, and decision making. The Lethbridge Play Charter is built on the United Nations Article 31, “Children’s Right to Play”.
